This year, Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management presented Darren Pitts of Velocity Retail Group with the “George Award” for Outstanding Alumni.

Each year, the George Awards honor some of the finest members and partners of the Graziadio School community. Recipients exemplify integrity, stewardship, courage, and compassion while enriching the ever-changing business world through their superior skills and entrepreneurial spirit. Alumni George Award recipients have demonstrated leadership and initiative toward advancing the Graziadio School’s alumni network.

Darren graduated from the Graziadio School MBA Program in 1995. He is the Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of Arizona-based Velocity Retail Group and Accelerated Development.  Darren was involved in starting the Phoenix-area Pepperdine Alumni Chapter in 2005 and joined Pepperdine’s Alumni Leadership Council (ALC) in 2007 and later served as the group’s President from 2012 to 2014. His ALC committee was instrumental in the creation of Pepperdine’s Family Camp in Malibu and he is regularly involved in Pepperdine activities and events in California and Arizona.

A proven leader and strong support of not-for-profit organizations, Tony serves on the Board of Directors for Desert Heights Charter Schools in Glendale, AZ., where he has maintained an executive position since 2009. He also enjoys a position within the Velocity Retail media group as a photographer and film-maker for Northrise University in the country of Zambia.
