If you live in the Phoenix area, mark your calendars for November 5th. Nearly four years after Velocity Retail Group started working with ALDI on their Arizona market expansion, the first stores will open. The much-loved grocery chain will soon be serving customers in the highly competitive grocery sector with its first two stores in Chandler and Goodyear, with Peoria soon to follow.
Expansion in grocery store chains is not commonplace. Dave Cheatham, President of Velocity Retail Group, LLC commented, “It has been years since a new grocery brand has entered the Arizona market. We were honored to be selected to launch ALDI in Arizona. Their reputation in the grocery sector is exceptional.”
ALDI has invested heavily in a multi-year nationwide growth initiative to open hundreds of new locations and update existing stores. The company has also increased its fresh food selection by 40% with a focus on new produce, meat and organic options, as well as easy to prepare foods. All while maintaining its commitment to low prices. When it comes to value ALDI won’t be beat on price. For 10 years running, ALDI has held the esteemed title of Value Leader among U.S. grocery stores according to the latest Market Force Information® U.S. Grocery Competitive Study. With more than 2,000 stores across 36 states, ALDI is on track to become the third-largest grocery retailer by store count by the end of 2022.
“Look for more stores to open in 2021 and beyond as we continue to work with ALDI to identify new store opportunities throughout the Phoenix area,” said Darren Pitts, Executive Vice President at Velocity Retail Group.
