Velocity Retail Group’s Charity Committee recently hosted a Mission Tour at the Phoenix Regional Operations Center for Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona.
The tours educate and enlighten guests on the many ways that Goodwill impacts our community. Over 40 attendees were able to join the tour which took the group through several testimonies from people who have directly benefited from Goodwill’s commitment to end unemployment.
The tour also included going through the warehouse to learn about Goodwill’s partnership with Dell Computers to recycle and rebuild computers, to the deconstruction of mattresses so that the parts can be used in other products, and learning that through Goodwill’s recycling efforts more than 130 million pounds of goods are kept from going directly into landfills each year.
In 2017 Goodwill’s employment centers helped over 46,000 people in Arizona find worthwhile employment and helped them with a hand up to become self sufficient.
It all begins with your donations to the stores. Ninety cents out of every dollar is used for programs that help people achieve employment and self-sufficiency. By donating and shopping at stores we all contribute to Goodwill’s circle of impact in our communities.
