At the 2024 Best of NAIOP Awards ceremony, Velocity Retail Group’s Dave Cheatham and Darren Pitts received the Retail Broker Team of the Year award.  The event honors the year’s most successful projects, companies, and individuals within the commercial real estate industry. Over 700 commercial real estate professionals attended the event at the JW Marriot Scottsdale Camelback Inn on April 25th.

This is the fifth year that the duo has earned this distinction which honors outstanding achievement in the industry, production, and mentoring others in the business. The team is extremely active in tenant representation and leasing big boxes across the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Clients include ALDI, Life Time, Hobby Lobby, Ashley Furniture, Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen, Whataburger, Darden Restaurants (Olive Garden, Cheddars, Long Horn, Yard House), American Furniture Warehouse, and Old Navy to name a few.

Dave and Darren have spent the last 28 years as business partners committed to serving their clients at the highest level.  They co-founded the company in 2005 which now has 28 members and is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona with an office in Tucson. The firm’s clients rely on the vision, strategy, and accelerated level of transaction execution that this high-performance team provides.

In addition to being the President of Velocity Retail Group, Dave is also the president of X Team Retail Advisors, a platform of 400 retail professionals in 40 offices nationwide.  Darren currently serves on the NAIOP Arizona Board of Directors and provides valuable input on the retail sector to the NAIOP members. Both gentlemen mentor and train younger brokers in the business and give freely of their time to help others learn the business.
