Buc-ee’s, a Texas-based super-sized convenience store and gas station will be constructing their newest prototype store in Goodyear, Arizona. Velocity Retail Group’s, Dave Cheatham, Darren Pitts, and Bonnie Arlia represent Buc-ee’s in Arizona. The team has worked with the executives from Buc-ee’s for several years identifying the ideal sites for their expansion into the West. The parent company of Buc-ee’s has recently closed escrow on over 22 acres at the southeast corner of Bullard Avenue and Interstate 10 in Goodyear. The seller is 19th Avenue LLC and Bullard II Properties I LLC. The planned store will be over 75,400 square feet, with 120 gas pumps.
“We are excited to be the team behind the real estate team for Buc-ee’s. It was over four years ago we were asked to analyze the market for their potential expansion,” said Dave Cheatham, President of Velocity Retail Group. “Our first site is perfectly situated along Interstate 10, capturing not only travelers to and from California, but those going through Arizona headed east. We are actively researching other areas throughout the state for Buc-ee’s further expansion,” he added.
For those not familiar with Buc-ee’s they are known for large convenience stores, clean bathrooms, made-to-order sandwiches, and dozens of gas pumps. Shoppers can find camping equipment, BBQ grills, and all sorts of items anyone traveling along the interstate could possibly want or need. The food is almost limitless, with freshly made fudge and hot beef brisket made throughout the day, along with grab-and-go salads, fruit cups, hot and cold sandwiches and desserts of all sorts. This is not a truck stop and is a very family-friendly place. Buc-ee’s will employ over 200 people to work in the facility that will be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
